Snow....Beach....What????

Back over Valentine's Day weekend, we planned a trip to Watercolor, in Florida, with some of our close friends, Kevin and Michelle. We were married on the same day of the same year, so we like to go on a trip together around our anniversary as often as possible. We were supposed to be leaving on a Friday, and earlier in the week we were hearing talk of possible snow. "Ahhhhh, whatever" we thought. If anything, maybe a few flurries. By Friday morning, we were thinking "uh-oh" because the forecast was calling for more and more snow. By lunch, it was snowing hard, so we decided to pick Parker up a little early in order to get a head start to Noah's parent's to get them dropped off. We were only driving half way that night, to Michelle's mom's house, so we only had to get 3 or so hours down the road. By the time we got to Noah's parent's house, it was big time snowing! The kids were so excited! We played a little with them before we left knowing we were going to miss all of the fun they were going to have in the snow. We were able to get a few pictures before we left. They enjoyed the rest of the snowy weekend with Noah's parents and my Mom.

So, this is the part that I tried so desperately to keep from my mom. Gamma, like any mom, has a tendency to worry, so she was not too excited about us driving 3 1/2 hours South (to an area that was actually getting more snow than our area) in all of this snow. We assured her that we were fine, and off we went. About an hour and a half south of Macon....OH MY!!! At one point, we literally could not even see the lines on the interstate that separated the lanes. I was very glad our kids were not in the car with us. It got a little scary a couple of times, but I was thankful for my big mom-mobile and it's new tires! The views were gorgeous along the way though!

It got worse than this at one point, but we never lost control or even slid!
In the midst of driving on roads like this, with snow pouring down, Michelle (who was in another car) texted me and said "It's amazing what 4 sleep deprived adults will do for a weekend away" I laughed harder than I have in quite a while, thinking about how true that was as we drove through horrible conditions, while the reports on the radio were saying "Stay off of the roads at all costs!"
We made it all in one piece. This was Michelle and me in front of the house we stayed at.

It was cool, but nothing like the snowy weather we left!
The "boys" climbing the treesIt was such a fun weekend! Very relaxing, with no schedule, no one to feed, and no diapers to change. We love our boys, but a break is always nice too! I am already looking forward to next year's anniversary trip!
